BOARD DEVELOPMENT MASTERCLASS with Karla Williams
Karla A Williams, ACFRE will challenge us to take a fresh look at Board Development.
Be inspired by Karla's keen sense of the donor environment, a propensity for challenging assumptions, a principled participative leadership philosophy, and her unique classroom levity. Karla is an organizational consultant with more than 35 years of professional nonprofit leadership. Her firm, THE WILLIAMS GROUP, has assisted over 250 nonprofits to develop strong donor focused cultures. Karla penned the first article on the importance of Creating a Philanthropic Culture, published in Contributions Magazine. She is the author of two highly-acclaimed books; Donor Focused Strategies for Annual Giving, a fundraising classic, and her newest book written for executive directors, Leading the Fundraising Charge. As a teacher, Karla has helped shape the fundraising profession while inspiring colleagues to see fundraising as a calling. She currently serves as adjunct faculty with The Fundraising School at IUPUI; the Masters Program in Philanthropy and Development at St. Mary's University of MN; the Fundraising Certificate Program at the University of St. Thomas Center of Business Excellence, and she is the Faculty Director and a Founder of the new Leadership Gift School, Institute for Philanthropic Leadership in Charlotte NC. Over the years, her work as a consultant, teacher, author and speaker has inspired organizations across the country to accomplish unlimited goals with limited resources.

Kelly Stewart is Vice President Client Solutions at The Pursuant Group with a specialized focus on healthcare, multi-affiliate health and human services organizations and run walk ride events. As a leader in nonprofit fundraising, Kelley has a strong commitment to helping nonprofits work smarter, not harder at fundraising. With more than a decade of nonprofit strategic planning and fundraising experience, her strength is to come alongside nonprofit organizations regardless of size or tenure and help them achieve their long term vision and goals. Her specialties include marketing, product development and integrated strategic fundraising inclusive of online, social media and innovation.
Kelley has a bachelor degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In her free time, she likes to travel, dine out, run and spend time with her husband and 3yr old daughter in their home of Brooklyn, NY.
SOCIAL MEDIA MASTERCLASS with Dan Dunlop
Dan is a principal of Jennings, a marketing and audience engagement firm based in Chapel Hill, NC. He is a brand strategist, blogger, author, social media consultant, and sought-after speaker, regularly serving on the faculty of national and regional conferences. He has been a guest lecturer on branding and positioning issues at the UNC School of Public Health, the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and Duke University’s Markets and Management Program. His clients have included The College of Charleston, Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University, UNC General Alumni Association, Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, American Diabetes Association, and Tufts Medical Center (Boston), to name a few. Dan holds an M.A. from Appalachian State University.
Dan is extremely active as a thought leader in the areas of marketing and social media. He has been designated a top healthcare marketing contributor by OrganizedWisdom.com and a Top Health Blogger in Wellsphere’s Healthcare Industry & Policy Community. Dan serves on the national advisory board ofHealthcare Marketing Advisor and is a contributor to Ragan’s Healthcare Marketing & Communication News. He is on the judging panels for the National Health Information Awards and the Web Health Awards, and was recently named to the editorial board for eHealthcare Strategy & Trends magazine. In 2011 he was appointed to SHSMD’s Emerging Media Task Force. He was recently appointed to the board of the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo).
